Writing a good poem
« on: August 31, 2017, 05:04:04 PM »
There is no magic anywhere to writing a good piece of poetry anywhere in the world.
It usually comes from voracious reading of other poems and literary works.
Reading to know.
And not reading to memorise.

After that, you begin to practice the act and art of versification and stanzas.
Poetry is not like other genres of literature.

It is a genre that deals with verses and stanzas.

That's why most good songs are "lyrical"
That is, they are words of music.

For a piece of poem to be rich, it should have:
Good imagery.
Use good figures of speeches like: Metaphor, simile etc
Discuss or write on your theme/topic/caption/title very well.
Have a reason in your discussion.
Weave words together properly.
